Description
The ever-topical card game for a party, for adults or a family game with educational value for children. As part of the giant Amalgamated Press Group, Waddy Productions only published card games for a short time during the 1930's. The company moved to Astor House, Aldwych in London just before Christmas 1938 when the game cost 2'6 new. The object of the game was to win as many cards as possible simply by making dictionary words from the letters shown on the cards. Now over 85 years old this item is in remarkably good condition. The cardboard box is covered in red, faux leather. The company name, game title and tag line are embosed in gold lettering. The box remains strong and intact. There is rubbing along the edges and corners but this adds to the authentic vintage look. Inside there are two pack of cards. Each pack consists of 56 standard sized cards all are in excellent , clean order. One pack has a red star burst design on the reverse while the other has a green star burst design. All the cards have a letter or letter grouping on the front. The game comes with red covered instruction booklet which is in very good condition although the staples are rusted and staining beginning to stain the pages. A great item for a collector of vintage card games, or as part of period display or as originally intended as a fun, family educational game.
