Description
It's a sunny afternoon you're cycling along a country road when suddenly you get a puncture. What do you do? Well naturally you reach for the Brit-Fix Repair Outfit housed in a handy slim tin. Produced by the Humber Oil Company that formed in 1919 and eventually diverged into paints becoming Humbrol makers of model making paint. This item probably dates from the 1930's although could easily be earlier or later. The tin is made from a thin gauge of metal. Due to it's age and use the tin has some heavy wear but has a great vintage appearance. The lid has a few rust spots and surface wear but still retains the red and black design, as well as the brand name, etc being readable. The hinge still works well. The base of the tin was originally guilded but most has rubbed off and replaced in areas but rust spots. Internally the inside of the lid is guilded upon which instructions are printed, and although observable they are difficult to read. The base has shadows or the original contents. An inexpensive item for a cycling enthusiast, someone who collects vintage tins or part of a period display.
