Description
During the golden age of air travel of the 1950's - 1970's you could walk into any major international airport and see the aircraft captain in full uniform stroll across the concourse followed by a gaggle of stunning stewardess' all in matching uniforms. Each airline had a distinct uniform in the airline colours. Dan Air Services Ltd or usually just Dan Air began in 1953 and was eventually sold to British Airways in 1992. This official piece of merchandise would probably have been purchased by the passenger while onboard the aircraft. The box has suffered the rigors of storage over the decades. Although it remains intact the box has several tears, creasing and a patch of discoloration. The transparent cellophane has torn in places as it has become brittle with age. Having said all this the box has served it's intended purpose of protecting the doll. The blonde haired stewardess doll is in perfect condition. The blue uniform is unmarked and unfaded. The doll retains her hat, scarf and shoes which are frequently lost. This figure comes with a transparent plastic stand and stickers that were to be placed on the hat and uniform. A great item and quite rare. Ideal for a collector of airline memorabilia, or a collector of dolls or perhaps for someone who worked for Dan Air.
