"Underground, overground, wombling free. The Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we. Making good use of the things that we find. Things that the everyday folks leave behind." For most of us in our formative years during the 1970's "The Wombles " introduced us to the idea of environmentalism and being green. "The Wombles" were reusing and upcycling before it being trendy. Originally created by Elizabeth Beresford in the late 1960's, "The Wombles" became popular in the 1970's appearing on television, cinema and even in the pop charts. The oldest and wisest Womble of all was Great Uncle Bulgaria. Available in our shop is a genuine 1970's plastic figure of Great Uncle Bulgaria. The item is unboxed but in good condition considering it is over 40 years old. The grey moulded plastic figure shows lovely detail and has hand painted features. As a result of being handled for four decades some areas of the paint has rubbed off which doesn't detract from the look of the figure and actually adds an authentic vintage feel to it. A really nice object for a Womble fan and collector, or for a 1970's display or simply for someone wanting to relive their childhood.
