The BBC Television Children's programme Blue Peter was well known for it's appeals to help various good causes both in this country and around the world. Those of us who were children at the time can still remember collecting milk bottle tops or taking part in "Bring and Buy" sales. This authorised jigsaw was produced in conjunction with the "3 B's" Appeal of 1978. The aim of this particular appeal was to raise money by collecting buttons, badges and buckles to help replace guide dogs such as Honey from previous appeals. The box is still strong and intact. Apart from one or two creases it is in very good condition for it's age. On the lid is a full colour photograph of Honey, presenter Peter Purvis, Buttons and recipient Miss Elsie Whitehead pictured in the grounds of Television Centre, London. The jigsaw is made up of 150 thick cardboard pieces which are all present. When complete it forms a television screen shaped image. Also included inside the box is a leaflet, with slight foxing, detailing the appeal and Blue Peter's connection with Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. An ideal item for a children's television programme enthusiast, a fan of Blue Peter, for someone with a connection to guide dogs, a collector of jigsaws or simply for someone who wishes to relive their childhood.
