With this item you could become an oil baron to rival JR Ewing. Aimed at adults and older children this first edition game was produced during the heyday of earlier exploration and development of the North Sea oilfields and gasfields. Being over 40 years old this game is in exceptional condition. The box is strong and intact although one corner is slightly split. There is minimal rubbing at the corners and some surface damage caused by clear adhesive tape and degrading elastic band. The lid shows a coloured illustration of a helicopter approaching an oil rig in rough seas. The colour remains vibrant. On the reverse of the lid is printed the story oil, it's formation, exploration and production. Inside the plastic storage tray is in perfect condition. The numerous coloured plastic game pieces are complete, unbroken and clean as are all the game cards and the game board. Included are the instruction booklet, an information leaflet about the exploration in the North Sea and a pamphlet come prospectus for Robert Gordon's Institute of Technology in Aberdeen. A great item for a vintage games collector, or for someone with a connection to the oil and gas industry, or a student of an oil related subject or as an item in a 1970's themed room.
