Description
Before the internet, before the mobile phone and before handheld electronic games, the child of the 1960's would have had their imagination and natural curiousity enhanced by such a 3D viewer as this. There were many types of stereo viewer available at the time. Some had a mechanical mechanism and others more basic, they used different picture formats but all produced a 3D effect picture. The Vistascreen viewer originally cost 1/6d in the early 1960's. The child would insert a small card upon which were two imagines which when viewed through the lenses created a 3D image. This example is in very good condition considering it has been used and is almost 60 years old. The original box is worn as would be expected. The edges and corners are rubbed. It appears the box has been folded at some stage as there are vertical and horizontal creases. The box retains it's red colouring and the cinematic styled lettering. The viewer is in perfect, clean order. Simply constructed of three parts hinged together and made from ivory coloured plastic, they fold down flat for easy storage. The lenses made for the original Vistascreen viewer were far superior than those of other versions and "clones". A great item for a collector of 3D viewers, or for someone who collects 1960's toys or for someone who wishes to remember their childhood.
