Description
Before the advent of small portable electronic consoles or mobile phones the only way a couple of chess players could endulge while travelling or while on holiday was to have the board and pieces with them. Obviously a full size set would be awkward so some clever person created a minaturised version, in this case the pieces are less than 2cm in size. The red and white pieces are made of plastic. All 32 pieces are present some showing a little wear. The pieces slot into holes on the traditional black and white wooden game board so they do not move around when travelling. The box is intact and remains strong. It is covered in burgundy coloured paper with a snake-skin printed pattern. There is some slight rubbing at the corners and edges which gives that authentic vintage appearance. The lid has gilded lettering on which gives an expensive look at small cost. A great item for a collector of chess sets, or for a chess player or for someone who collects vintage games in general.
