Description
People have always been intrigued by misfortune and disaster while other people aim to proffer from such events. This is true with this postcard recording the Tramway Accident which occurred in Bradford on the 31st July 1907. Fortunately this time there were no fatalities but the tram appears to have been severely damaged. The sepia coloured, real photograph shows the scene of devastation being inspected by onlookers and would have been put into production incredibly quickly by a local company, in order to sell to the many spectators over the following days. Bearing in mind that this standard sized postcard is almost 110 years old it is in remarkably good condition. The corners have signs of minor wear, while both sides have slight grubby marks on which don't detract from the subject but add to that authentic vintage look. The postcard has not been used and remains blank on the reverse side. A great item for a transport enthusiast, a collector of vintage postcards, for someone with an ancestral connection to the incident or for someone with an interest in the history of Bradford.
