"Rule Britannia, Britannia rules the waves......" This sepia coloured photograph printed on glossy photo paper shows four battleships of the Royal Navy in amazing detail. The photograph is glued to a piece of brown paper. Along side the picture, written in black ink, are the words "Valiant", "Warspite", "Malaya" and "Revenge" "1917". All four ships were present at the Battle of Jutland in 1916. However having searched the image online there are copies that give different ship names and dates. Not being naval historians we believe the handwriting and photograph are contemporary with the WW1 era and possibly the image was available to the crews of the ships as a souvenir hence the other copies that are in existence. Whatever the true age and ship names are this is still a great item for a Naval historian or researcher, for someone with a connection to the named ships or for a collector of WW1 era militaria.
