What do you need when you have a hacking cough? Hacks cough sweets naturally. A medicated cough sweet made to a traditional recipe containing a unique blend of herbal extracts as well as menthol, eucalytus and liquorice. The original factory in Southport closed in the early 1970's but the sweets are still made to the same recipe in Malasyia. This large, metal storeage tin would have contained 5 lbs of sweets and would have been displayed on a shelf behind the counter. At the time a quarter of these sweets cost 1'3.  Probably dating from the 1960's this item is in very good condition. There are no dents or scratches. The colour remains as vivid as the day it was made. The design depicts and elderly gentleman in Edwardian costume sneezing into his handkerchief. The top of the tin has had all the guilding rubbed off due to age and use. The black metal lid has some rust beginning to appear. There are two price stickers one for a quarter and one possibly for the whole tin. A great item for a collector of tins, for someone interested in vintage advertising and retail or for a display piece in a museum.
